Cloth+Foster was born out of a deeply personal journey.

When Brittany and Aric Clapp stepped into the world of foster care as new foster parents, they were quickly immersed in the joys and challenges that come with opening your home to children experiencing crisis. As placements came—and sometimes changed unexpectedly—the Clapps found themselves scrambling to meet the most basic needs: diapers for a newborn one week, clothes and school supplies for a teenager the next.

What became immediately clear was the massive gap in resources for caregivers—especially when it came to tangible, everyday essentials. While the desire to help was strong in the community, access to what was actually needed, when it was needed, simply didn’t exist.

Rather than accept that as the status quo, Brittany and Aric took action. With a vision to support not just the children, but the families who welcome them, they founded Cloth+Foster in 2020. Their mission was simple but powerful: to make sure no caregiver has to do it alone, and that every child experiencing foster care has access to dignity, comfort, and the basic items they deserve. They wanted the HEART WORK to happen.

Today, Cloth+Foster serves families across Southwest Washington, bridging the gap between the community’s generosity and the real, changing needs of children experiencing foster care. What started as one family’s effort to do better has grown into a movement of support, compassion, and shared responsibility.
